In Nepal,
ethnical cultural groups are diverse and many of them have their
own languages and customs. Although, Nepal is the only Hindu
kingdom in the world, many other religions like Islam,
Christianity and Bon since ages past have co-existed in harmony
and still are being practiced here with religions tolerance.
Nepal, the land of medieval cities, where time stands still, is
a place where temples and cultural diversity as well. Nepal is a
multi-cultural, multi-linguistic and multi religious country.
For a relatively small country, Nepal has a diverse landscape,
ranging from the humid Terai plains in the south to the
mountainous Himalayas in the north, which makes it a major
tourist destination. Some of the most sacred pilgrimage sites
for Hindus are located here for about the 80 % of the people and
in the other hand the country also has a strong Buddhist
tradition; in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha Siddhartha
Gautama is located in the Terai, south west of Kathmandu.
Nepal's
heritage is alive and dynamic. Shamanism, Pan-animism &
witchcraft are still practiced in remote regions. Temples,
shrines, monuments and monasteries are extremely active with
devotees burning butter-lamps, singing hymns, chiming
temple-bells and playing drums. The only country that has living
goddess "Kumari"
